TRAINING INTENSITY
To characterize the magnitude of
resistance (load) we use the percent of weight lifted relative to the athletes
best performance. Depending on how the best achievemente is determined, two
main variants of such a measure may be used. One option is to use the athletic
performance attained during an official sport competition or maximun Weight,
(CF). The second option is to use a Maximun Training Weight, for comparissotn
(TF).
Maximun Training Weight is the
heaviest weight (1RM) a athlete can
lift without substantial emotional stress. The difference between
the TF and CF is aproximately 12.5± 2.5%. Is more practical to use CF than TF
for the calculation of training intensity. The average training intensity for
athletes has been 75±2%.
